FRAM & BAASE
Coleman has the support of Future Ready Advocates and the Better Academics And Social Excellence program. These mentors and programs help guide our students academically and behaviorally.
Future Ready Advocate Mentoring (FRAM)
Future Ready Advocates (FRAs) serve schools that have a disproportionate rate of suspension of At-Risk students. FRAs are members of the WPS Office of Equity, Diversity, and Accountability team that works collaboratively to address the needs of At-Risk students. The work of the FRAs extends beyond the school setting to include residential and community settings. Working with parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators, FRAs implement strategies that build positive relationships with At-Risk students utilizing school and community resources.
FRAs mentor students and form relationships with them, working on self awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and peer relationships. The goal is to not only help with behavioral issues and academics, but to teach life skills to students to ensure they are future ready.
Coleman's Future Ready Advocate mentors are Mr. Tyrone Berry and Mr. Caylin Loggins.
Better Academics And Social Excellence (BAASE)
The Better Academics And Social Excellence (BAASE) initiative identifies males of color who have demonstrated positive academic identities and engages them in meaningful and culturally relevant activities that will lead to further academic and social success as well as increased participation in AP, Honors and IB programming.
BAASE focuses on motivating young men to continue to strengthen their academic identities by enrolling in rigorous college and career readiness courses. BAASE's number one goal is to increase the number of males in Wichita Public Schools who are college and career ready and prepared to compete for academic scholarships! Although the focus of BAASE is males of color, the initiative does not exclude any males who would like to join.
